DURHAM - The Duke Chinese Students and Scholars Association plans a candlelight vigil from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in response to the earthquake that struck Western China on Monday.

The public is invited to the event to be held in front of Duke Chapel.

Organizers of the vigil say they plan to commemorate those who were lost, pray for people who are trapped and console affected families.

People are asked to wear black if possible. Organizers will provide candles and matches.

The Duke Chinese Students and Scholars Association will accept donations during the vigil, which they plan to combine with donations from other local Chinese groups and send to China for relief efforts.
