Someone carved "KKK" onto the side and front of a computer printer at Duke Medical Center.

The incident was reported at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday. The printer is in an area of Duke Hospital North occupied by the school's food services department. Duke police have not classified the incident as a hate crime.

"At this point, we aren't willing to classify it as a prank or discredit whether the individual may have had biased intent," said Maj. Gloria Graham, a Duke police spokeswoman, who added that investigators are following up on leads. No arrests have been made.
