NCCU names interim provost

DURHAM -- N.C. Central University has named a new interim provost.
The NCCU board of trustees approved the appointment of Bernice Johnson, a longtime administrator and current dean of NCCU's University College. She succeeds Lenneal Henderson, who became interim provost earlier this year when Beverly Washington Jones stepped down from the post.
The university is currently conducting a national search for its next provost and expects to make a permanent appointment by the end of the year.

Johnson has worked at NCCU since 1979. She is the former dean of the college of arts and sciences.
