Durham police identify shooting victim

DURHAM - Durham police today released the name of a man found dead about 9 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Liberty and Elm streets.

Sean Kali Buwe, 18, whose last known address was on Sima Street, was shot to death on the sidewalk, police said in a news release.

Witnesses told investigators that Buwe was walking on Liberty Street when a male dressed in dark clothing got out of a burgundy van or SUV and walked up behind Buwe. The male shot Buwe and then fled in the vehicle, which was driven by another person, according to witnesses.

No charges have been filed.
