CHAPEL HILL -
After five years of marriage, a local woman discovered this month that her husband is also married to another woman, according to police reports.Chapel Hill Police on Wednesday charged John Dee Burton, 43, with bigamy. Police investigated over the past week and found that Burton had married one woman in 1993 and the other in 2003.Burton's address is listed in police records as 2218 Fitzgerald Ave., Apt. B., Durham.His second wife has a Chapel Hill address, and it's not clear when they last lived together.The first wife lives at a different address in Durham, according to Chapel Hill Police Capt. Bob Overton."They were definitely both legally married to the same guy," Overton said. "That's not [an offense] we charge much."
