RALEIGH -- The Wake County school board appointed Karen Summers on Tuesday to be the new principal of Davis Drive Middle School in Cary.

Summers is currently an assistant principal at the new Mills Park Elementary School, which is scheduled to open in July. Previously, she was a senior administrator in growth and planning and an assistant principal at West Lake Middle School.

Summers will start Monday. She replaces Tina Hoots, who is now principal of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School.
