RALEIGH - The Wake County school board approved a student reassignment timeline Tuesday that takes into account the conversion of 22 schools to a year-round calendar next year.

A preliminary reassignment plan will be presented for public comment Dec. 4. The official plan will be presented to the board Jan. 9.

The board will approve the plan Feb. 6, a month earlier than normal. This will allow families to know where they are assigned before applying Feb. 12 through 28 for a magnet school and/or a year-round or traditional-calendar school.

A new form will be developed for parents to apply for a specific calendar. It will be separate from the magnet application form.

Parents at the converted schools will find out their track assignments March 7.
