The Wake County school board voted Tuesday to delay the opening of two elementary schools and use the money instead to pay for renovations at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School.The opening of Bryan Road Elementary School in Garner and a school in Wake Forest will be delayed by at least one year with funding to come from the next bond issue. Delaying the projects will allow $43.9 million to be shifted toward the Wake Forest-Rolesville High School renovations.The final decision is up to county commissioners.School leaders say they need the money to keep renovations at the high school on track. Having the money will allow the district to send the Wake Forest students to the new Heritage High School for the 2009-10 school year while their campus is renovated.The school district has run into problems getting both Bryan Road and the new Wake Forest school opened on time. Garner officials had threatened to withhold permit approval for Bryan Road because of concerns it would mostly be populated by low-income students from Southeast Raleigh.
