Schools name chief area superintendent

RALEIGH - The Wake County school board on Tuesday promoted Danny W. Barnes to chief area superintendent. Barnes will oversee the school district's other area superintendents. He had been area superintendent of Eastern Wake County since 1999.

Barnes has worked in Wake since 1988. He previously was a senior director for human resources, principal of Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School and assistant principal at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School.
