17- Estimated Miles Per Gallon Her Suv Gets.

$125- Money She Spent on Gas in Her Diary Week.

Saving strategy: "Unfortunately, I feel like I live at Wal-Mart. I try to reuse my gift card from Wal-Mart to save 3 cents a gallon on gas. I have a 20-gallon gas tank, so this saves me a whopping 60 cents for a fill-up. But I would rather have it than Exxon or any of those companies."

How she picked her SUV: "The reason we bought our Honda Pilot was because ... both my sister and my husband's sister drive them. They are very comfortable and can fit eight people, which, with kids, we really need."

What she likes about driving in North Carolina: "I have to say people here seem much nicer and definitely not as aggressive as up north in Massachusetts. I don't hear as many horns beeping or see as many fingers flying. This, and the weather being so wonderful lately, and it being lighter out later, makes for a much more pleasant ride. This also affects how I drive because I will sometimes go a longer way just to enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty."
