Six Forks wreck brings DWI, hit and run charges

RALEIGH - A Raleigh teen was charged with underage drinking and hit and run after hitting a utility pole in North Raleigh early this morning, backing up traffic for several hours while repairs were made.

Jose Guevara Erasmo, 19, of 7011-18 Sandy Forks Road in Raleigh, was charged with driving while intoxicated, underage consumption of alcohol and hit and run.

A crash report stated that Erasmo was heading south on Six Forks Road near Shelley Road when he crossed several lanes of traffic, striking a utility pole on the east side of the street.

He fled the scene, but was found later in a nearby parking lot, the report stated.

Raleigh police reopened the road just before noon today it was closed in both directions throughout the morning.

The 3:45 a.m. accident only involved one vehicle, said police spokesman Jim Sughrue. No serious injuries were reported.
