Tree-trimmers could slow traffic at I-440/U.S. 1

closeDrivers could run into delays at the interchange of Jones Franklin Road and Interstate 440/U.S. 1 starting Tuesday, when work crews will be cutting trees near electric transmission lines.
The project is scheduled to start Tuesday and could last up to three days, according to Progress Energy. Motorists are being urged to use caution on the northbound on-ramp and the area around it because large vehicles and work crews may be near the road. Traffic delays are possible from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Progress Energy and other electric utility companies have stepped up tree-cutting around transmission lines in response to recent changes in federal requirements.
