It's a busy weekend for work crews on Interstate 40 in the Triangle, and that could cause some problems for motorists.
In Wake County, crews are working around the clock through Monday morning to resurface eastbound I-40 between the U.S. 1/64 interchange and Gorman Street. Two of the three lanes will be closed, and the state highway department says motorists should expect heavy delays and seek alternate routes.
In Durham County, crews will repair pavement in both directions of I-40 near the Streets at Southpoint mall on Sunday from 6:30 a.m. through the afternoon. Lane closures will be intermittent, the highway departments says, but you should expect two of three westbound lanes to be closed between Fayetteville Road and N.C. 751, while two of three eastbound lanes will be closed near N.C. 54.
