According to the state Highway Patrol, two cars collided head-on just before 6:30 p.m. on N.C. 242 at Drag Strip Road.

One person was ejected from a vehicle. Several others were removed from the vehicles.

It was not clear which person was airlifted to the hospital. Officials did not have information on the victims' conditions late Thursday night.
