BENSON -- A 59-year-old Raleigh man died Saturday after his ultralight aircraft crashed in rural Johnston County.

Charles Zeigra was attempting to land his plane at a private landing strip on Tart Town Road near Meadow, southeast of Benson, Saturday morning when a wing got caught and flipped the craft, sheriff’s deputies said.

He was taken to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh with injuries thought to be non-life-threatening, but died later Saturday, deputies said. It was not known if the crash caused his death.
