Two young children have been hospitalized after separate near- drowning incidents in Johnston County on Sunday.

Derek Casanova-Gonzalez, 4, was found unconscious Sunday morning in an outdoor fountain.

According to Clayton Police, the boy was with his parents Sunday morning as they worked to clean inside a child development center in the Riverwood Athletic Club.

When the parents, Johnston County residents Gil Alonso and Erika Gonzalez-Trejo, noticed the child missing, they searched and found him unresponsive in the fountain pool, the police said.

The boy was revived and transported to WakeMed Raleigh Campus.

Later on Sunday, an unidentified 4-year-old girl was recovered from Tucker Lake, a privately owned lake southwest of Benson.

The child was in cardiac arrest but was revived and flown by helicopter to Duke Hospital, according to the Johnston County Sheriff's Department.
