SMITHFIELD - Johnston County sheriff's investigators were looking for a man they say shot his wife twice Friday night.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said deputies arriving at 1575 Galilee Road, just outside Smithfield in Johnston County, found the woman. She had been shot in the mouth and in one leg.

The woman, whose name was not immediately available, was taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials were looking for Julian Blankinship, 44, who they say was driving a white 2005 Ford F-150 pickup and should be considered armed and dangerous.
