Road crews next week will convert the Johnston County intersection of Cornwallis Road and Shiloh Road/Josephine Road into a four-way stop, the state Department of Transportation announced today.
The current intersection has stop signs on Shiloh Road/Josephine Road, but drivers on Cornwallis Road are not required to stop. A DOT investigation found that traffic volumes on the intersection, located between Cleveland and N.C. 42 in Johnston County, warranted the change to a four-way stop, a release from the state agency said. Road crews will paint stop bars on the road to indicate where motorists should stop.
Road crew members will control traffic through the intersection with flags while work continues.
