Clayton man arrested on 3 rape charges

RALEIGH -- Raleigh police arrested a Clayton man Thursday and charged him with raping the same woman three times.
Stanley Carpenter, 54, of 3518 Barber Mill Road in Clayton, was charged with three counts of second-degree rape and one count of violating his parole for a previous conviction.
According to the warrants, the woman whom the defendant is accused of assaulting has a diminished mental capacity. Carpenter was in the Wake County jail Thursday, with bail set at $620,000.
