Sixty-five fewer Wake County school buses will be on the road Monday when traditional-calendar students start a new school year in more crowded buses taking new routes and making fewer stops. School transportation officials say they want to put more buses on the road but can’t recruit enough drivers.
Wake County Public Schools will open five new schools this year, with three in southwestern Wake County. Oakview and White Oak elementary schools are opening in Apex while Pleasant Grove Elementary is opening in Cary.
