A Marine and a U.S. Army soldier died this week in separate incidents in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.
Sgt. Charles C. Strong, 28, of Suffolk, Va., died in combat Monday in the Herat province, the department said. He was part of the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion, based at Camp Lejeune.
Army Maj. Michael J. Donahue, 41, died Tuesday in Kabul of wounds suffered from an enemy attack, according to the department. Donahue, of Columbus, Ohio, was part of the XVIII Airborne Corps, based at Fort Bragg.
Stephen Byus, 39, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio – who has no reported link to Fort Bragg – was killed in the same attack as Donahue, according to the department.
