An American Airlines flight from Raleigh made an emergency landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport early Tuesday because of a problem with one of its engines.
The flight landed without incident, and no one was injured, said airline spokeswoman Alexis Aran Coello.
American Airlines fight 2428 was flying from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport . when an indicator light in the cockpit reported a possible mechanical issue, the airline said in a statement.
The issue involved an engine, but the engine was never shut down, Coello said.
The plane, an MD80 with 98 passengers and a crew of five, landed safely and taxied to the gate, the airline said. Earlier, Coello said the passengers were still on the plane and officials were determining whether the plane would continue on to Dallas-Fort Worth.
“Our maintenance team is currently evaluating the aircraft,” the statement said. “We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience, and are working to get them to DFW as soon as possible.”
