A small-plane pilot and a passenger escaped injury Friday morning when their aircraft went down south of the Sanford-Lee County Airport, Lee County officials said.
The plane went down along Ammons Farm Road, which leads to the south end of the airport, emergency management officials said.
The two people were able to go to the airport, and airport officials notified authorities of the incident, according to emergency management.
Other details were not immediately available.

The airport is home to the Raleigh Executive Jetport and the Wings of Carolina Flying Club. The flying club formerly was based at the UNC-owned Horace Williams Airport in Chapel Hill.
