An old-fashioned supper is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Stones Creek Advent Christian Church on Woods Crossroads Road five miles south of Benson. The menu will offer chitterlings, barbecued pork, fried chicken, chicken and pastry, rabbit, collards, cabbage, cornbread and desserts. The all-you-can eat buffet is $13 for adults and $5 for children 9 and younger. An auction at 7 p.m. will offer quilts, pillows, applejacks, crafts, cakes and other items.
The Social Security Boys will sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, 9708 Hawley Road, Kenly.
A yard sale is scheduled from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5, in the fellowship at Pisgah Baptist Church, 3689 N.C. 210, Smithfield. Breakfast items and baked goods will be available too.
An all-you-can-eat pancake supper is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Elevation United Methodist Church, 5101 Elevation Road, Benson. The cost is $6 and includes pancakes, sausage, grits and beverage.

A barbecue competition will take place March 11-12 at First Baptist Church, 411 N. Fayetteville St., Clayton. Twelve professional teams will compete. For $10, the public can sample barbecue from each team and then vote for a favorite. Twelve certified judges will also weigh in. Proceeds will go to summer missions. Good Samaritan United Church of Christ has moved from Selma to The Clayton Center, 111 E. Second St., Smithfield. Worship is at 9 a.m. Sundays, with fellowship following. Christian education is at 11 a.m. The church’s youth group meets two Sundays a month, and a special-needs youth group meets during the week. The church made the move in part because The Clayton Center is easily accessible to the handicapped.
