An Easter Eggstravaganza is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at Burnell Baptist Church, 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks. The event will feature games and egg hunts. The church will hold a sunrise service at 7:06 a.m. Sunday, March 27. Burnell will celebrate Family and Friends Day on Sunday, April 3. The Watchman Quartet will sing. Lunch will follow the 11 a.m. service.
A pancake and sausage supper is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church, 1771 N.C. 50 South, Benson. The church will accept donations for the meal. The event will also include a silent auction.
An Easter Extravaganza is scheduled from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Baptist Center Church, 2163 Ranch Road, Clayton. The event will offer crafts, snacks and an egg hunt.
A pancake and sausage supper is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church fellowship center, 1458 Wood-Lee Road. That’s just south of Strickland’s Crossroads Road. The church will accept donations for the meal; takeout will be available. A cake auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Midweek Lenten services are scheduled for noon March 9 and 16 at First Presbtyerian Church, 215 S. Third St., Smithfield. The Rev. Greg McClain, chaplain at Johnston Health, will speak March 9; Bishop R.W. Johnson, pastor of St. Peter’s Church of Christ, will speak March 16. On Palm Sunday, March 20, an Easter egg hunt and hot dog lunch will follow the morning worship service at First Presbyterian. The church will hold prayer vigils at noon March 21-22. A quarterly service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Mt. Sinai United Holy Church, 2106 Pine Level-Selma Road near Pine Level. Apostle Kenneth Leach will speak.
A barbecue competition will take place March 11-12 at First Baptist Church, 411 N. Fayetteville St., Clayton. Twelve professional teams will compete. For $10, the public can sample barbecue from each team and then vote for a favorite. Twelve certified judges will also weigh in. Proceeds will go to summer missions.
