Cary fifth-grader Rahul Sachdev will go this week to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in National Harbor, Md.

He qualified after topping his brother at the Wake County Spelling Bee in March

He also is a talented tennis player – the fourth-best in North Carolina in his age group

Bill Fletcher to run for re-election to Wake County school board

Wake County school board member Bill Fletcher announced Tuesday that he’s running for re-election this fall in the new District B seat that represents much of the suburbs. Fletcher, a Republican, touts his ability to work across party lines. But Fletcher has also drawn opposition over the years from fellow Republicans.
