Apex youth, hurt in July 5 car crash in Wilson’s Mills, dies

An Apex boy, 13, died Monday at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh after being critically injured in a two-car crash July 5 on U.S. 70 in Johnston County, Wilson’s Mills police said.

A 13-year-old boy from Apex who was in a car struck in a collision on U.S. 70 in Apex on July 5 died Monday at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, police said.

Chief David Hess said the youth, whose name was not released, was one of two people taken to WakeMed with critical injuries after the daytime crash at the Swift Creek Road intersection.

Police charged that Julla Panneh, 38, of Raleigh failed to reduce her vehicle’s speed and estimated it was going 55 to 60 mph when it hit a Toyota passenger car that was stopped at a red light.
