A section of Carpenter Upchurch Road will close Tuesday for three weeks near Green Hope High School.

The N.C. Department of Transportation and the Wake County Public School System are installing a right-turn lane at the school’s main entrance, and a roundabout with sidewalks at the secondary southern entrance

The closure will fully shut down the road between the schools’ main and southern entrances, near 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road. A detour will take drivers along Morrisville Parkway and Louis Stephens Road, around the eastern side of the school.

Visitors can reach the school via its northernmost entrance on Carpenter Upchurch Road. To reach that entrance, drivers will need to approach from the direction of Morrisville Parkway, to the north.

The town of Cary expects “minor delays” near the school. Freshman orientation begins next week, but the first day of school is Aug. 25, after the expected completion of the project.
