A section of Carpenter Upchurch Road will close Wednesday for three weeks near Green Hope High School.
The N.C. Department of Transportation and the Wake County Public School System are installing a right-turn lane at the school’s main entrance and a roundabout with sidewalks at the southern entrance.
The closure will fully shut down the road between the school’s main and southern entrances. A detour will take drivers along Morrisville Parkway and Louis Stephens Road, around the eastern side of the school.
Visitors can reach the school via its northernmost entrance on Carpenter Upchurch Road. To reach that entrance, drivers will need to approach from the direction of Morrisville Parkway, to the north.
Never miss a local story.
The town of Cary expects “minor delays” near the school. Freshman orientation begins next week, but the first day of school is Aug. 25, after the expected completion of the project.
