Philanthropy

City Barbeque of Cary donated $1 to Dorcas Ministries for each “More Cowbell” sandwich sold on Aug. 9 and 10.

The Friends of Hemlock Bluffs donated $9,200 to the Stevens Nature Center at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve in Cary. The donation will be used to update the middle section of the exhibit hall.

REI gave a $10,000 grant to the Friends of Hemlock Bluffs for trail improvements at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve in Cary.

Firewürst, a restaurant with two locations in Cary, donated $10,000 to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina’s Stop Summer Hunger Campaign.

Fast Lube Plus will host Motor Oil Matters, a charity and new licensee promotion, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at 1991 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary. Fast Lube Plus will donate 10 percent of net proceeds to the U.S. Veterans Corps.
