Police said a 20-year-old woman narrowly escaped a collision with another car when hers went out of control on Southwest Cary Parkway on Sunday evening and another driver was able to stop inches from it.
Sara Waterhouse of 2515 Arborview Drive was injured when the car she was driving went up on the median and came back off into her lanes, she over-corrected, and the car went back onto the median and hit several small trees before rolling, police said.
The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. near Waldo Rood Boulevard, police reported.
Police said Waterhouse would be charged with driving while impaired and careless and reckless operation of a vehicle.

Officers at the scene said Waterhouse appeared to have life-threatening injuries, but later were told she was not hurt as badly as they feared.
