Dhedra Lassiter was named the 2014 Wake County Principal of the Year on Thursday, and Lacey Peckham was named Assistant Principal of the Year.
Lassiter has been principal of Rolesville Middle School since it opened in 2012. Lassiter has worked in Wake since 1993, starting as a teacher at Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School. She’s also worked in the district’s human resources department and was an assistant principal and later principal of Heritage Middle School.
“Our groups are working toward common goals,” Lassister said in a statement. “We need to engage in activities that assure we have a shared lens on learning with expectations for academic excellence for students.”
Lassiter receives a prize package that includes a $1,000 check, Carolina Panthers tickets and office supplies. Rolesville Middle will receive $1,000. She’ll enter the state’s Principal of the Year competition.

Peckham is an assistant principal at Middle Creek High School in Cary. She’s also served as a Spanish teacher at Green Hope and Sanderson high schools and been an assistant principal at Martin Middle and Sanderson High.
