Athens Drive receives grant
Jason Hunning, a teacher at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, earned a $1,000 grant from N.C. Beautiful to make a native plant garden for the school.
Cardinal Charter Academy information sessions
Cardinal Charter Academy, a new charter school for kindergarten through sixth grade, will open in the fall at 1020 St. Charles Place, Cary. Auction and art walk

Preschoolers’ art auction
Art by preschoolers at The Learning Eperience of Apex and Holly Springs will be sold in the Second Annual Nationwide BeCause Our Hearts Beat Art Auction from 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at 560 Evening Star Drive, Apex, and 801 Holly Springs Road, Holly Springs. Art sales will raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Wake Electric scholarships
Wake Electric will accept applications from high school juniors in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and Wake counties for two $1,000 scholarships until Friday, March 14, at www.wemc.com/youthtours.aspx. Winners will receive the scholarship and join the 2014 Rural Electric Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C., from June 14-20. Winners will also become eligible for more scholarships worth $2,000 to $2,500.
IMProv at Cary High School
Students will perform in competitive IMProv shows at 7 p.m. one Friday a month through May in the drama studio at Cary High School, 638 Walnut St. Shows will be March 21, April 11 and May 16. Admission is $2.
