A Durham man is in stable condition Monday after he was shot late Saturday night, Morrisville officials said.
Morrisville police responded to a report of a gunshot wound at 201 Sutter Gate Drive about 12:01 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the town. Steven McRae, 47, of Durham was taken to an unidentified hospital where he underwent surgery.
Police haven’t identified any suspects though said late Monday that the shooting wasn’t random. A police report says the incident is being investigated as an aggravated assault. The report describes the suspect as wearing a coat or hood and holding a handgun.
The investigation is ongoing, Assistant Town Manager Todd Wright said.
Breckenridge is in the northwest part of town, near Davis Drive and N.C. 55.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Morrisville Police at 919-463-1600.
Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly said the suspect had forcibly gained access to site of the shooting. Police said how the suspect entered hasn’t been determined.
