Gourmet grilled cheese? Check. Waffles? Check. What about lobster? Yep, Cary’s Chatham Street Chowdown had that too.
The second food truck rally of the year expanded to take over much of Chatham Street in downtown Cary. With 24 food trucks, plus a wine and beer garden with local spirits, the event seemed to have something for every palate.
The lines were long, particularly for lobster and dumplings, but patience paid off for those who waited for delicious dishes.
Meanwhile, local bands Scarlet and Peak City Sound jammed out at a stage at the intersection of Chatham and Walker streets while people danced in the street.
And unlike the spring event, the rain held off the entire evening, and as the sun set, cooler temperatures arrived for those snacking and enjoying the music.
