Numerous Cary residents paid tribute to the 2,700 lives lost on 9/11 with a service project for Cary firefighters.
About 30 people volunteered to build a vegetable garden at Cary’s Fire Station 5 on High House Road on Friday, Sept. 11, with additional volunteers signed up to do the same at Fire Station 4 on Old Apex Road on Saturday.
“It’s today that we remember the tragic events of 14 years ago,” Cary Town Councilman Ed Yerha said Friday before the group had a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives that day in 2001.
Groups including University of Michigan alumni, Boy Scout Troop 213 and Senior Girl Scouts Troop 465 attended the event.
Never miss a local story.
