Cary’s first indoor trampoline park will open at Cary Towne Center within a matter of months – advancing revitalization efforts at the mall after TopGolf chose not to open a new location there.
Jumpstreet, a Colorado-based company, will open its first North Carolina trampoline park in early March at 1111 Walnut St., which was formerly occupied by Harris Teeter, a spokeswoman for the company said Wednesday.
The announcement comes nearly four months after TopGolf decided not to pursue opening its elaborate entertainment and restaurant complex at the mall due to noise and lighting concerns from residents who live adjacent to the site. Texas-based TopGolf originally planned to build its first North Carolina center at the former Sears site, but recently has shown interest at a Cary Crossroads location.
Jumpstreet, which opened its first location in 2007, has since added parks in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. Cary’s Jumpstart will be the company’s 17th location and will create 50 new jobs.
Never miss a local story.
“Cary was an ideal city for our next opening,” said Mark Goldman, Jumpstreet Chief Operating Officer, said in a statement. “We were drawn by its beautiful surroundings, its energy and its people.”
The 26,000-square-foot trampoline park facility will feature trampolines, trampoline dodgeball, dunk ball, a mechanical bull, a children’s area with inflatables and more. It also will be available for private parties for all ages, corporate functions and team-building events.
“This is our first location, but (we are) always open to building a second one if there is a demand in the community,” said Tess Dumlao, a spokeswoman for Jumpstreet.
The building is owned by CBL & Associates Properties, which also owns the mall. CBL & Associates Spokeswoman Stacey Keating said the lease was executed late last month and the company is looking forward to a new tenant at the mall.
“CBL is committed to enhancing the customer experience by bringing new and exciting tenants to the markets we serve,” Keating said in an email. “We are thrilled Jumpstreet has chosen a location at Cary Towne Center as part of their expansion.”
