With Cary’s Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival running two days this year, the Town of Cary and the Sister Cities Association of Cary need more than 300 volunteers to help run the festival and the beer garden.
“We do still have volunteer needs in all areas of the festival, especially for Sunday,” said Lyman Collins, the town’s cultural arts manager, on Thursday.
There are several volunteer opportunities, including assisting with festival load in and out, booth sitting and staffing the information tent. Shifts are available from Friday, Aug. 26, through Sunday, Aug. 28, for numerous time slots. Volunteers also are encouraged to sign up for multiple shifts or multiple days.
The Sister Cities Association of Cary will be running the Lazy Daze Beer Garden. Beers from Fortnight Brewery in Cary plus some German beers and wine from Triangle Wine will be available, as well as brats from Wake Tech Culinary School and pretzels from Annelore’s German Bakery.
Ken George, a Cary Town Council member and a member of the Sister Cities Association of Cary board, said more volunteers are needed because the beer garden is expanding in size this year, based on last year’s sales.
“We had the biggest sales we ever had last year, almost doubling the year before,” he said.
The Sister Cities Association of Cary needs volunteers to sell tickets, pour beer and more. Experience in sales is not required but encouraged.
