Local students serve as pages
Daniel Liu of Apex and Aubrey Surgers of Cary served as pages for the N.C. House of Representatives. Daniel, a student at Enloe High School and the son of Yongning and Kun Zhang of Apex, was sponsored by Rep. Nelson Dollar. Aubrey, a student at Panther Creek High School and the son of Aubrey and Sherri James-Surgers of Cary, was sponsored by Rep. Elmer Floyd.
Apex pianist earns diploma and award
Laura Schnoor of Apex earned the High School Diploma in Piano and the Padwereski Gold Medal from the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Schnoor is a student of Nancy Wicks Garner. She is the daughter of Joel Schnoor and Michelle Barry of Apex. She recently graduated from high school as a homeschool student and will attend Campbell University in the fall.
Cary resident volunteers in Macedonia
Hannah Campbell of Cary will volunteer in Macedonia for a week in Habitat for Humanity International’s Learn and Build in August. She is a rising senior at Grace Christian School and the daughter of Kevin and Gayle Campbell of Cary.
Kevin Campbell is the president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, and Gayle Campbell is compensation manager for Habitat for Humanity International.
Cary resident recognized for service
Duane Best of Cary was recognized by the N.C. House of Representatives and the N.C. Senate for nearly 40 years of service to the state. He earned the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, an award presented by the governor. He was also recently inducted into the North Carolina Music Educators Hall of Fame.
Cary ballerina performs in International Ballet Competition
Victoria Wong of Cary competed in the 2014 USA International Ballet Competition in June in Jackson, Miss.
