Weather permitting, as part of the Town of Cary’s work to improve Walnut Street at US 1/64 overpass, from February 29-March 4 between 9 a.m-3:30 p.m., drivers can expect delays in the Walnut Street, Buck Jones Road and US 1/64 corridor. Two lanes of eastbound Walnut Street from Kingston Ridge Road to Piney Plains Road will be closed to allow crews working on behalf of the Town to install storm drainage.
Signage will be in place to alert traffic; motorists are advised to use caution, reduce speed in the work zone and follow marked detours. Motorists can expect these and other lane closures and shifts to occur intermittently throughout the project, which is estimated to be complete in fall 2016; motorists use alternate travel routes throughout the project.
