Phyllis Virginia Schubert Jamieson, affectionately remembered as Grandma Beach by her loving family, passed gracefully on April 16, 2014.
Born March 23, 1925 in Benham, Kentucky to Lon Barney and Epsia Alice Schubert, she later moved to Cary, North Carolina and raised a family with her late husband, William J. Jamieson.
Phyllis left the hills of Kentucky, trained as an army nurse and was stationed in Puerto Rico during World War II. It was there that she met and married the love of her life. Although she missed being a nurse, she found raising her family was her greatest fulfillment. She was a strong woman with a simple, gracious heart who will be remembered for her laughter and wonderful spirit.
Her life is joyfully celebrated by her daughter, Sue Jamieson Toth (Larry); son, Gregory William Jamieson (Terri); grandson, Travis Jamieson Toth; granddaughters, Emily Robyn Jamieson Shelton (Nathanael) and Erin Marie Jamieson Day (John); and great granddaughter, Audrey Estelle Day.
The family received friends starting at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. A memorial service followed at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Salvation Army or the Dorcas Shop.
