Jack E. Kimbrell, 86, of Cary, died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary, NC.
Jack was born May 27, 1926 in Union County, NC to the late Richard MacK Kimbrell and Maggie Sims Kimbrell. He was a graduate Wingate University and East Carolina University. Jack had a varied career in education, managerial and personnel positions, but he was most proud of his tenure as media training coordinator and senior engineering extension specialist with North Carolina State University, where he served from 1969 until his retirement in 1991. He was active in many professional and community related activities to include: American Society for Training and Development; Cary Greenway Commission; Cary Community Appearance Commission and member of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Katherine Williams Kimbrell; and his siblings, Dixie Howard Brodmerkle; Thomas H. Kimbrell; and Charles H. Kimbrell.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Karen J. Kimbrell of Winston-Salem, NC; and Sarah K. Humphries and her husband, Hank of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Daniel Everhart of Boone, NC; and Chip Davis and his wife, Robbie of Palatka, FL.
The family will receive friends 7-9 pm Monday, March 18, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. A memorial service will be held 11 am Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, 110 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511.
