Greenways good for everyone
Hooray to the town of Cary for looking to expand the greenway system in the western corridor of town. I live on one of the greenway systems, and it allows me to walk to local shopping and dining venues, promoting my daily exercise and putting one less vehicle on an already-busy thoroughfare.
The proposed 1.5-mile trail extending westward from Cameron Pond to Mills Park is an excellent use of taxpayer money and an asset to an already environmentally aware community. In an age where health concerns due to childhood obesity are prevalent, walking to and from school is an excellent low-impact, fresh-air activity which in turn would lessen the pressure on the school district’s transportation system.
Further extension of the greenway to the American Tobacco Trail is an even greater idea. As an avid equestrian, I have come to love the trail.
Never miss a local story.
