Holly Springs needs smart growth
I just opened my water bill and read “the myths of growth” in The Springs brochure, and I finally had it.
I could picture the Holly Springs Town Council members in a meeting lamenting “Why don’t these people get it and stop complaining about the growth! I know! Let’s come up with an article that would illustrate how Holly Springs would be affected if we had no growth.”
The problem with this article’s assumption is that the audience that it is aimed at is nonexistent! No one is asking for no growth, but smart growth. In addition to the accomplishments you have achieved, please work on writing, editing and approving detailed and specific policies that would focus zoning and land use to encourage small businesses in our downtown area; limit clear-cutting (not just straggly trees on the fringes of the land); promote public transportation to alleviate traffic; and create housing for people to live and work in Holly Springs.
Never miss a local story.
We need our leaders to balance growth and to govern with a deft and nuanced hand. Are you starting to see the specific picture?
Thanks, smart growth
