Downtown Cary plan needed
Two years ago CaryWatch, made up of concerned residents, asked Town of Cary officials for a comprehensive plan for downtown development with realistic cost estimates. In the last three years, millions of taxpayer dollars have been spent on a movie house here, a luxury hotel there, a restaurant here, a $6 million town square there, a park here, major utility improvements there, land acquisition and other projects around the downtown area.
Who builds a house one room at a time? Would you put a kitchen on one side of your lot, a bedroom on the other, a couple of bathrooms here and there? Would you add a living room and some bedrooms somewhere along the way, and then hope it will all come together as an attractive house? Would you work within a budget for your project, or would you pay as you go and hope you have enough to pull it together?
Why has the Town of Cary continued to engage in “one room at a time” projects without making a comprehensive building and budget plan available for public review? Surely, such a plan must exist.
