Apex senior goalie took home Southwest Wake Athletic Conference lacrosse player of the year honors while Holly Springs’ Bridget Walker was the coach of the year, both voted on by coaches of the SWAC – known as Conference 2 by the NCHSAA.
The state runner-up Cougars (17-2), including Redfoot, had six total selections.
Last year’s conference player of the year, junior Mia Castagnero (73 goals, 37 assists), was joined on the first team by senior attacker Erin Cornell (70 goals, 20 assists), senior defender/midfielder Jessie DeLuca (28 goals, 16 assists) and junior Abbey Flynn (41 goals, 28 assists).
Juniors Ashley Anderson and Meredith Chapman (25 goals, 20 assists) made the second team.
Green Hope (10-6), which tied with Athens Drive for second, had five total selections.
Senior Mackenzie Koeller (51 goals, 22 assists) and junior Lilly Stanley (48 goals, 39 assists) were on the first team. Junior defender Kelly Hagan, senior Avery Hidalgo (16 goals, 19 assists) and sophomore Quincy Smith (34 goals, 16 assists) made the second team.
Athens Drive (7-8) had six selections.
Junior attacker Madeline Bromley (56 goals, 32 assists) and senior Haley Jay Lohmiller (23 goals, 17 assists) were on the first team. Junior Sydney Rupple, sophomore Erin Kenedy (13 goals, 7 assists), senior Kayla Young (37 goals, 4 assists) and senior goalie Sarah Sedaghat made the second team.
Panther Creek (6-9) had first-teamers in senior Kelly Kearnan (36 goals, 14 assists) and junior Sarah Oechslin (34 goals, 9 assists) and a second-teamer in senior Audrey Everett (13 goals, 10 assists).
Middle Creek (5-11), which tied with Panther Creek for fourth, placed freshman Sam Caputo and junior Holly Hite on first team and also landed sophomore Maddie Boudreau on the second team.
Holly Springs (0-12) had first-teamer Morgan Willow, a senior, and second-teamer Emily Hayes, a junior.
