The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Mebane man with trying to order a hit on his former girlfriend’s significant other.
Brian Travis Padnos Allen, 24, was arrested Monday and charged with solicitation to commit murder, according to a news release.
“Information was received that Mr. Allen was attempting to contract a murder,” the release said. “The intended victim was to be the significant other of a former girlfriend. An undercover operation was initiated by investigators of this office, which was concluded by the arrest of Mr. Allen.”
Allen was taken into custody without incident and placed in the Orange County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
Allen is a lifetime registered sex offender under North Carolina statutes and is registered with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, according to the release.
He was sentenced to three years of probation in November 2015 for being a sex offender being unalwfully on premises, according to state corrections records.
