Police need the public’s help finding the driver of a sport-utility vehicle that hit a cyclist Sunday on Hillsborough Street and left the scene.
Chapel Hill police responded to a call about the wreck at 10:46 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Hillsborough Street, near Bolinwood Drive.
The cyclist was traveling north in the roadway when the suspect tried to pass, police reported; the suspect hit the victim and left without stopping. The victim, who was not identified, was taken to UNC Hospitals with minor injuries.
A witness told police the suspect was driving a small, light-colored sport-utility vehicle. Police said the SUV may have damage to its front right or right side.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed or stopped at the scene of the crash.
