The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to vandals that struck two northern Orange County churches overnight.
The Little River Presbyterian Church and the New Bethel United Methodist Church, about four miles apart in the Caldwell community, were broken into sometime after 9:30 p.m.
The vandals broke numerous panes of glass and damaged the doors.
“It appears that the suspect(s) only intent was to damage and destroy property at the churches; nothing appears to have been stolen during the incident,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The cost to replace and repair the damage appears to exceed $20,000.
The Little River church is a “small community congregation” of about 120 members, many of them local farming families, the Rev. Chuck Link said Friday.
The church was broken into about two years ago, after which it stopped keeping laptop computers in the building, he said.
The Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspect(s). Callers may remain anonymous.
