Gov. Pat McCrory offered a $5,000 reward Wednesday to help catch whoever launched a firebomb through the window of the Orange County Republican Party office last weekend.
Meanwhile, party volunteers were already working in a new, bigger office Wednesday evening, several doors down from the previous spot in the Daniel Boone Village complex.
In announcing the reward, McCrory called the firebombing “an act of intimidation.”
“I’m going to do everything I can to find the individual or individuals who committed this assault on our democracy,” he said. “I remain committed to using every resource as governor to assist local authorities in this investigation.”

The reward of up to $5,000 is for information leading to an arrest and conviction. The firebomb – a Molotov cocktail containing a flammable substance – did significant damage to the office on Ja-Max Drive before extinguishing itself Sunday. Authorities think the attack happened after midnight Saturday.
Graffiti was spray-painted on the side of an adjacent business.
It was reported shortly before 9 a.m. by a neighboring business owner to the Orange County 911 Center.
Hillsborough investigators continued to work with officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office also has been assisting with the investigation.
Evidence collected from the scene is undergoing analysis at the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia. Authorities also collected surveillance video from the area Tuesday and are reviewing it for clues.
